Upon graduating from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business Administration, Shelley became the fourth generation to follow in her family’s business, RL Jones Group. She is currently a licensed Personal & Commercial, Life & Health Insurance Broker in Arizona and California, and a certified Habitudes facilitator. Shelley owns and operates the three locations of RL Jones Insurance & MVD Services.

Her husband, Colin Mellon, is a third-generation Yuma produce farmer and the two of them own their own farm and are active in the management and operations of Mellon Farms, Inc.

Shelley serves as Chair of the Southwest Arizona Town Hall, Chair of the Yuma Education Advocacy Council, former Board Member & CEO Council of Expect More Arizona, a member of the Community Leaders Advisory Council for Education Forward Arizona, Director of the Yuma Youth Leadership Council, Director of Yuma Youth Town Hall, Chair of the Yuma Union High School District Bond Campaign and Yuma Union High School District Governing Board Member, Board Member of the Arizona Community Foundation of Yuma, Board Member of Yuma County Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Mentor with Yuma Up Mentoring Program, and is involved in various capacities with many more organizations.

Shelley was the recipient of the International Athena award, the Yuma County Citizen of the Year, the Arizona Community Foundation Outstanding Leader and the Arizona Business Women’s Territorial Charter Chapter HerStory Recipient.

Colin and Shelley have three children:

• Tanner, a graduate of Purdue University
• Mckenna, a graduate of Cornell University
• Walker, attending Arizona State University and Barrett’s Honors College
