AzCAN College Access Superhero: Project Outreach FAMILIA
Congratulations to the AzCAN College Access Superhero for May 2023…Project Outreach FAMILIA: Forwarding Academic Mechanisms Integral to Learning In the Academy!
Project Outreach FAMILIA is a collaboration between the University of Arizona College of Education and Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives Office that aims to strengthen high schools’ college-going resources.
The purpose of this partnership grant is to expand and enhance institutional capacity to increase the number of Hispanic and low-income students entering higher education and earning postsecondary degrees.
Project Outreach FAMILIA seeks to close the gap between college preparedness and college readiness of Tucson’s Hispanic high school students, thus strengthening the local college-going pipeline.
The amazing team is small but mighty, made of up only four committed individuals: Dr. Cindy Trejo, Lupe Waitherwerch, Gislea Cardenas, and Yahaira Leon. Above and beyond the work they do, they are all first-generation college graduates, Mexican-American, bilingual professionals who individually are AzCAN College Access Superheroes and work collaboratively under the Project Outreach FAMILIA goals.
Thank you, on behalf of the Arizona College Access Network to these inspirational women who work tirelessly to support the Tucson community!
