Education Forward Arizona Hosts Annual Etiquette Dinner to Support Student Professional Development
Education Forward Arizona recently hosted its second annual Etiquette Dinner at Metro Tech High School. This special event provided more than 30 scholarship recipients with a valuable opportunity for professional development, networking, and hands-on etiquette training.
High school students from Metro Tech High School Culinary Arts program served all guests and prepared the five-course meal in a full-commercial kitchen, under the supervision of Chef Philip Sayre, C.E.C., C.C.E., W.C.C. Students from Metro Tech High School Floral Design and Business Operations program also contributed by designing custom centerpieces for table setting, inspired by Education Forward Arizona’s brand colors.
The dinner provided Education Forward Arizona scholars with the opportunity to learn valuable skills, from mastering etiquette to making meaningful connections, setting students up for success, both academically and professionally. Guests were lead throughout the evening by the etiquette presenter, Melissa Goitia Werner, Executive Director, Office of University Events and Protocol at Arizona State University.
“Events like this go far beyond teaching proper dining etiquette,” said Myrna Cardenas, Vice President of Success Services and Partnerships at Education Forward Arizona. “We’re preparing our scholars with the confidence to walk into any room, whether it’s a business dinner, job interview, or networking event, and know they belong. We aim to equip our scholars with the skill to navigate these scenarios with ease and assurance, positioning them to succeed in their future endeavors.”
Beyond etiquette, the dinner provided scholars with real-world networking and professional dining experience. They were seated alongside Education Forward Arizona leadership, Alumni and industry professionals, allowing them to gain firsthand experience.
The event was generously sponsored by Carstens Family Funds, giving students the opportunity to hear from Education Forward Arizona leadership, network with peers, connect with their Advisers, and ask questions.
By continuing to provide events like the Etiquette Dinner, Education Forward Arizona reinforces its commitment to helping students thrive—not just in school, but in life. These experiences build confidence, create connections, and equip students with the tools they need to succeed.
