Amber Bolling-Galuppo
Amber Bolling-Galuppo graduated this Spring from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Sustainability from the W.P. Carey School of Business. Amber decided to pick her major because she wants to make a difference in the business community and to learn about a fresh perspective. Many companies are looking to diversify their business by hiring someone who is passionate about sustainability, so she is hoping to be hired in a role where I can learn about how sustainability can improve a business. The biggest thing that she has learned at ASU is that “you have to fight for what you want, and that includes everything from mental health to financial stability.”
Amber recently worked as a Search Engine Evaluator at Appen, a technology company that collects information about internet users’ habits. She rated how helpful web search results and websites were to a user. The experience helped her understand how search engines like Google worked and how the search results are based on how helpful they are to a user. She also learned about web design and the best way that a website can be most engaging for a user.
Amber also interned at Elequa, a nonprofit organization that creates water filter experiments for children that helps educate them about water sustainability. She originally started volunteering with the organization and then started to do her internship virtually. From there, she became their social media marketing intern and helped them run social media campaigns.
Her college experience changed drastically during the pandemic. She went from living in a dorm to living at home. All of her classes, scholarship events, volunteering, internships, and job opportunities went virtual. She had to become more adapted to home life and learn new ways to showcase her skills. Her post-graduation plans are to join the workforce and obtain more experience in the business field, and then potentially continuing her education to get a business certification or an MBA degree.
