5 Ways to Thank Arizona Teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week

It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and the perfect time to show Arizona teachers our support!

The teachers in our communities continue to show up with a heart to serve and a willingness to meet each child’s unique needs. They’re doing incredible work to educate Arizona students, from pre-K to high school and beyond.

Here are five ways you can celebrate and thank teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6.

1. Write a thank you to a current or former teacher

We can all think of a teacher who made an impact on our life or helped us learn something new. Or perhaps you know a teacher who is making a difference in your child’s life or in your community. Consider taking some time to write a thank you note or email. Words of appreciation can go a long way to make a teacher feel appreciated.

2. Support a local teacher’s DonorsChoose project

DonorsChoose is a way for public school teachers from across the country to request much-needed materials for their students—and you can find thousands of requests by teachers right here in Arizona.

Search for classrooms in your city or zip code to help fund resources like Playdoh to help Phoenix preschool students develop fine motor skills, Scholastic magazines to promote reading in San Luis, a printer for students at Page Middle School and dry erase markers for math practice in Wilcox.

3. Share a message of support to all Arizona teachers!

Help us grow our “Wall of Love” for Arizona teachers by recording or writing a quick message of thanks to teachers!

Consider creating a message for a specific teacher who has impacted your life or a general message to all of Arizona’s teachers.

4. Donate supplies or your time to a local school

Contact a local school to see if they have a wish list or a need for supplies for their breakroom or classrooms.

If you’d like to donate your time, ask your local school or district for information on volunteering. Many schools are in need of volunteers to help with mentoring, coaching and more.

5. Take action for teachers

Help take action for teachers by sharing your school funding priorities with legislators, including funding for teacher retention. Education Forward Arizona makes it easy. Send an email your legislators with your funding priorities and join the Education Forward Advocates Network.

Education Forward Arizona is a nonprofit organization that advocates for education, students and teachers. Education Forward Arizona would like to thank all teachers in Arizona and across the country for Teacher Appreciation Week!
